The watch comes in a few versions. Future owner can choose between two dial options: black with guilloched pattern or silvery opaline dial. This dial is justly considered to be a masterpiece, because it includes 6 patented innovations. The dial has the 4HZ frequency and offers 65 hour power reserve. Apart from these, the caliber features a stop seconds function. The movement of the watch can be admired though the case back. This fantastic watch combines fine designs and high-end features of the chronograph movement.

The Legendary Santos de Cartier Collection

Cartier Santos is the first wristwatch in the history of watch making. The model was developed due to Albert Santos Dumont who was an aviator and who asked his friend Louis Cartier to develop a watch to use safely in the sky. It was very uncomfortable and sometimes even dangerous to open the pocket to take out a watch from it while flying, so Santos Dumont needed a watch to wear on the wrist. Louis Cartier immediately began working at the concept.
Today many companies dispute the pas of being developers of the first wristwatch. For instance, Girard-Perregaux assert that in the end of the 1880s they developed the first watch for officers of German fleet. However, this model by Girard-Perregaux was an ordinary pocket model with lugs for the strap, while Louis Cartier created his Santos Dumont as the first conceptual wristwatch.
Cartier created a watch with a square case with rounded angles. Since the watch was designed for a pilot, it had a highly readable dial with big Roman numerals . Specially for this watch where the strap was integral to the very timepiece, Louis Cartier developed a case with fully incorporated lugs with no break and attachments. The watch was created together with Edmond Jaeger, who developed the small ultra-thin movement with manual winding.
The watch was presented in 1904, when the public that gathered to admire the favorite attraction – the fly around Eifel Tower – saw Santos Dumont checking time with help of a stylish wristwatch. Since Santos Dumont was a very popular person in Paris, everyone wanted to have such a timepiece. However, Louis Cartier promised his friend to develop a really exclusive watch and he kept the word.
During 75 years, up to 1973 only 800 pieces of Santos de Cartier model were sold. The model entered the market only in 1978 when the legendary jewelry house released a Santos Dumont collection and amazed the public with the first bi-color watch where stylish bezel was decorated with gold screws. The Santos de Cartier model is the best-seller among all other Cartier models in 1979.
Two years later Cartier released one more successful version of Santos de Cartier model – an ultra-thin watch with red crocodile leather.
In 1980s Cartier released a waterproof Santos Vendome model with a curved case and a Santos model with rounded steel case.
In 1990s Cartier released the Santos de Cartier Chronoflex model – a chronograph with rounded case. Also in 1990s Cartier celebrated the 90th anniversary of the model with the Santos Dumont limited edition that included platinum and gold watches.
In 2004 in honor of the model’s anniversary Cartier released four new lines: Santos 100, Santos-Dumont, Santos Demoiselle and Santos de Cartier Galbees.
The Santos 100 is a dashing sporty version of the original Santos de Cartier model. The Cartier Santos 100 model has all the best characteristics of the legendary Santos de Cartier collection, this model is designed for active people who always choose high quality watches with laconic, but very stylish design.
In 2010 Cartier offers many nice Santos models one of the most spectacular being the Cariter Santos Dumont Skeleton that is available in white gold. This timepiece has a smaller Cartier Santos 100 Skeleton presented last year. Since the watch is a skeleton, its movement can be admired by the owner.
